Well, we escaped our first official hurricane watch unscathed, with nothing more than a little wind. For a short while Monday afternoon there were rumors of the air force base closing and evacuating, and thankfully our good friend Megan offered her home as a safe haven, but the storm changed course and missed us entirely. Hopefully that's the closest we'll ever come to the real thing. I guess our Florida experience wouldn't have been complete without a little hurricane excitement, lol.
In other news, I am now searching for a nanny for the girls. They were supposed to be attending the same daycare Aidan attended as an infant, but their waiting list is not moving as quickly as anticipated and they would not be able to get in for a few months. This unexpected delay caused us to re-evaluate our childcare options.
So after weighing the pros and cons, we've decided to find a nanny instead of putting them in a daycare. The cost of a nanny is only slightly more than the cost of daycare times two, and there are so many more advantages. They can stay in their own environment and on their own schedule, they will have one-on-one, personalized care, they won't pick up as many colds and viruses, and I will have less commute time and more time to spend with them. I've posted an ad and interviewed 5 people, with 3 more scheduled. It is a nerve-racking process choosing someone to care for the most precious part of your life!
So far there is one candidate I'm very excited about that seems like a perfect fit! I do still need to finish the other interviews, and do a reference and background check, but I may have already found a great nanny, woo-hoo! I'll keep you posted!
